|About the Book|
This amazing story took place in the summer 1981 in one of the most popular russian resort cities which is geographically situated in the Black Sea cost of North Caucasus.Since spring 1980 I launched several extreme expeditions in the very heart of the majestic Caucasus mountains in the hope of finding information about one relic plant – Caucasian mandrake. It is considered to have magic power because of its extraordinary root which resembles human body.Since ancient times mandrake root was known as a universal remedy which also protects from evil spells and was also used widely by the Adyghes (Aboriginal population of the Black Sea cost: from Anapa till Sochi) in various magic rituals.Caucasian mandrake contains deliriant hallucinogenic tropane alkaloids such as atropine, scopolamine and hyoscyamine therefore this plant became a symbol of sacred magic knowledge and played a big role in ancient rituals concerned with legendary Dolmens. I was really interested with the magic properties of this plant. In the eighties many people of my generation were admires of Carlos Castaneda’s works and so was I. Inspired by the amazing adventures of Castaneda I was dreaming about getting the similar spiritual experience. So, finally I ventured to go on a risky trip to unexplored highlands of The North Caucasus.
